About Me

I am a Junior at the University of South Alabama. My major is elementary education with an emphasis on kindergarten. Children are one of my passions. Making a child happy also makes me happy. In my free time I like to write poetry, read about new technology, and relax when the opportunity presents itself. I am a person who loves to try new things, like snowboarding.

THE FIRST YEAR

beginning...

There are 250,000 new teachers hired in the United States every year. Even though these are high numbers for employment, the decision of going into teaching creates a whole new set of things to worry about.

a huge problem...

In college, there is always that thought of what the first day of teaching would be like, and there are more positive thoughts than negative thoughts. It seems as if we don't think about what we know until we start. After that college to teaching transition, a lot of teachers have debt from those high student loans. This is where the problem could start for most; this could bring about the survival stage much quicker.

classroom management...

In that first year, every teacher has in their mind that great classroom management and teaching go hand in hand with each other. A good teacher will know or eventually learn how to manage their classroom well. This is only if the students motivate the teacher to do so. If not, there will be a number of students with behavior and discipline problems.

Sanitizer

On bathroom breaks, just to speed things up a bit, I would tell my class to forget about washing their hands. When they exit the bathroom, I would apply sanitizer. I would also tell them that this only applies in this classroom. Wash your hands everywhere else.
